April
by Kelsey Walker

Part 1
The early springtime air full of life,
but I am feeling nothing.
Left empty like the trees in late winter.
Longing for a warmer season,
one with you here, with me.
But you’re gone, with the birds moving south,
seeking nicer, warmer weather.
A season has never been more finely shaped.

Part 2
The early springtime air full of life,
I am finally feeling something.
Tentatively blooming like trees in early spring.
Headed toward the warmer seasons,
ones where I can still feel your love.
Watching the birds move freely,
unafraid of the cold.
A season has never been more finely shaped.
